the pillows and buster-kun have been turned into toys! kubrick figures, by japanese toy manufacturer medicom, make a cute and nifty collectible. kubrick figures have been inspired by everything from trigun to the x-men. but be warned, these are all limited edition and generally can only be obtained via japanese auction sites. thanks to davidg1904 for pointing me to some of this information.

original buster-kun (2002)

this kubrick set was offered in the march 2002 issue of Quip magazine (vol. 28) for 1850 yen. it was also given to pillows fan club members in april 2002. hidden inside his head and body are regular-sized kubrick parts, and if you combine this set with parts from the black and white buster-kun set, you can build the sawao figure.

glow in the dark buster-kun (2002)

to promote the release of thank you, my twilight and another morning, another pillows in october 2002, the pillows gave away this figure. fans received a special raffle sticker with their purchase of both albums at certain stores, and if the sticker said ‘atari’, you won the toy.

black and white buster-kun (2003)

this set was made available in the april 2003 issue of Quip magazine (vol. 32), and through the pillows fan club, for 3500 yen. hidden inside the white buster-kun are parts to build a yoshiaki figure, and hidden inside the black buster-kun are parts to build a shinichirou figure.


15th anniversary clear version (2004)

this set came with the october 2004 issue of Quip magazine (vol. 38), to commemorate the pillows’ 15th anniversary on september 16. it was also sold at tower records and other major music stores in japan.
